THE JOURNALS

The three houses accessed through the Prism of Possibilities each represent the same house, but in three different climate scenarios: a best-case scenario, a worst-case scenario, and an intermediate scenario. In each house, the decor represent how the family is living in each scenario, and the journal below is present for those who might choose to read it.

The journal was written by Emily Nicolosi, PhD (Geography, 2019) using The Intergovermental Panel on Climate Changes (the authoritative force on climate science) last two reports (Mitigation, Impacts, and Physical Science. The backcasting method (back-tracing on how a certain future might be arrived at) in addition to the Shared Socioeconomic Pathways of AR60- were used to develop a narrative for each scenario. These narratives thus are based on the science, although of course some creative liberty has been taken to tell a story.

The story is written from the perspective of Ari, creator Emily Nicolosi's son, 80 years from now. He recalls the events of his life, roughly at each decade.
