SUSTAINABILITY

This project is made upcycled materials wherever possible, except for the steel, nuts, and bolts that form the basic structure for the zome and domos (for safety reasons). We are always looking for upcycled materials for future projects. If you live in the Intermountain West, especially Utah, and have access to the following (and would like to get it off your hands) please get in touch with us: old CDs, light aluminum cans, can tabs, old bike parts, old keys and other small metal objects (nothing sharp, please), sea glass, stained glass, old tile, old silverware, and so on. Thank you. :)

We hope to leave a smaller trace on the atmosphere by fully powering the project with solar. Please feel free to make use of the below spreadsheet, which can calculate the number of solar panels and batteries needed based on load. Please contact Emily if you have questions or need help with it. There are also some suggestions for particular batteries and solar panels in there, based on watt per dollar, watt per lumen, etc. If you make a copy of this Google Sheet, you can edit it.
